Welcome Baby Tilly

Introducing Tilly Rose Abbott

Born 17th November, 2010 - 10.45am (5 days early)
7 pound 8 ounces
51cm long
34.5cm head circ.

I don't think Tilly could have come any quicker.

After having a lot of tightening across my belly the previous night (nothing painful), the first actual sign that Tilly was on her way was while we were shopping.

From the time it took us to drive from Capalaba Park Shopping Centre to Redlands Hospital 15 mins away, Tilly almost made an untimely arrival in the carpark at the hospital. In total, her labour was 45mins. The nurse who was on registration got more than she bargained for when we got out of the lift, having to deliver Tilly before any of the midwifes could get to us.

Tilly was born with a shock of dark hair and skin like her sisters, nice a dark. Sometimes we look at her and think she looks just like Ruby and then she doesn't. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Like her big sister, Tilly has had a few tummy issues. The first few days Tilly had to get rid of all the amniotic fluid that was still in her belly and now (thanks to mum's plentiful supply) Tilly is gulping as she drinks and is taking in a lot of air. She is having long sleeping periods followed by long restless periods, these are usually at night.

Hospital Check Ups

Today we were told that unless bub comes or we go over the due date we don't have to come in for any more check ups. It pays to be healthy. Even after putting on a lot more weight this pregnancy all vitals for both mum and bub are great.

The last few days my belly has been tightening on and off but nothing painful and due to the amount of trips to the loo, bub seems to have dropped. Now to try and get some rest over the next few days before the big arrival....ohhh, boy or girl? Can't wait to meet you bub.

4 weeks to go

This week we start weekly trips to the hospital until bub comes. We haven't been to the hospital since our first appt at 12 weeks and have been going to our GP for the last few months. A month ago we were told that bub was head down and ready to go, I wonder how many visits we will have to endure at the hospital.

All check ups have been great. Bub has a strong heart beat and is growing nicely (so is mum - 15 kgs to date).

Pregnancy wise, this one is a lot different to Ruby's. My shape is different, I didn't show with Ruby until 26 weeks and this one was almost straight away - all out the front. I wasn't sick with Ruby at all and I was sick for a good 6 weeks with this pregnancy. I've been feeling this baby since very early in the pregnancy, from about 12 weeks, even Rog could feel it moving around. At the scan they said that baby is sitting right at the front of my belly. And this bub - according to our scan - is a little bit bigger than it's sister was at the same time.

As everything has been going so well, we've only had the one scan. This is one of the best images from the bunch, taken in June at 19 weeks pregnant.
